Based in East Yorkshire, 4 Cladding Services operates alongside sister companies, Industar and Liftroller UK, who offer industrial vacuum cleaners, handling equipment and innovative loading platforms for safer material transport on building sites. Together, they serve clients across the UK and globally, backed by extensive industry experience and shared resources.

We recently spoke with Tom Spence, Managing Director, who shared 4 Cladding Service’s story with us: “We’re a small, close-knit company. My dad started the business, and my uncle works here too. A lot of people have been with us for years. We try to be informal, relaxed and focus on great customer service.” The company’s ethos centres on personal service, reliability and long-term customer relationships, values that have driven its continued growth for over two decades!

Before becoming a customer of Klipboard six years ago, 4 Cladding Services relied on Microsoft Excel and manual processes to manage rentals and invoicing. Tom added, “We had Microsoft Excel workbooks with different tabs for picking lists and delivery notes. It worked about 60% of the time. We even tracked machines with sheets of paper. It could get messy and prone to human error.” 

As the company grew, managing hundreds of monthly orders using spreadsheets became time-consuming and unsustainable. Invoicing alone could take days to complete manually, causing delays and inefficiencies.

Recognising the need to modernise, 4 Cladding Services turned to Klipboard’s OnRent Office, a comprehensive rental management ERP designed for hire businesses. “We knew at some point we needed to make the move to be more sophisticated as a business. “An order used to take us maybe half an hour, now it takes five minutes. When you’re doing a hundred orders a month, that’s a huge saving. As for invoicing, it used to be a time-consuming process, now it takes just 30 minutes instead of a full day!

And because automated and daily invoicing is now possible, the company’s cash flow has improved significantly. Previously, we waited until the end of the month to send invoices. Now, with daily invoicing, we can send them straight away, it’s made a big difference to our cash flow.

As for our equipment, we can easily see if a machine’s stuck in transit or on site. Before, it might have taken weeks to realise - now we can check every day!”
